-Why didn't this happen before
-Costs and figures
-Type used for green/methods/recycled materials
-What companies are green? and how
-Make recycled sketchbook for subconscious
-Carbon process
-Email address for further information
-Graphs and diagrams
Select three ideas that you will take forward to research and investigate further
1. Email b.jackson@the-sun.co.uk for more information
2. Carbon Process
3. What can be done and how

OUGD101 Referring to the typeface you have designed answer the following:

OUGD101 Referring to the typeface you have designed answer the following:
Partners Name: Dutch
Which personality traits did you choose to respond to and apply the typeface?
-Fit Bird
-Slang
-Colour
-Serious
-Laughter
-Music
What are the reasons behind the design decisions you have made for the typeface?
All based on the information received from Dutch.
Wanted to use a serious typeface but with his interests/characteristics layered around the serious face
In what ways are the results effective?
Maybe how the type joins up using the drop shadow
Represents each personality identified on Dutch
What personality traits do you interpret from the typeface designed to represent you?
Foresight
Describe what you think of the typeface?
I think the type looks well made and works well as a set.
The letters are legible
In what ways is it effective, and in what way is it ineffective of representing you?
It only represents one answer i gave Dutch which was, if you had a super power what would it be? and i said to predict the future.
But does communicate foresight well.

OUGD101 How to... - Self Evaluation

What roles did you take on in the group?

I helped generate ideas, instead of a poster i mentioned use a pack of scissors so it would be more interactive, then everyone started to think down line of producing a box with items in to help you sleep when someones playing loud music. The slogan "Cut the Noise" came from the scissors. I helped Ross develop the logo and also produced the bags for the items to go into the box

How well did you think you performed in the roles?
I thought instead of usually working independently, i would see what everyone in the group likes and what they can do so i could work around them. I added the conceptual ideas and helped produced the final outcome within the group so i was fairly happy.

How well did you think you worked as a group?
I think we worked well as a group we all understood what and who was producing what. But maybe there was a lack of communication for me to contact the group as i live in different halls, so maybe i should have asked for numbers or facebook accounts to keep in contact.

What were your positives of working in a group?
Meeting other people, understanding what there positives were and maybe take the positives from the group to influence my work for the next project e.g learning something new from other people.

What were the negatives of working in the group?
I felt when we were given the brief i would give people the first say of what they thought about what ideas we could look at but within half an hour Ross really wanted to produce a poster so we understood that he wanted the groups job of producing most of the work digitally so i felt we kind of had to work around the poster.

What will you do differently next time?
Take more time for idea generation and producing the final outcome. maybe collect a broader range of research. The main one would be to get peoples numbers to keep in touch.

Where could you have improved your resolution?
Maybe research and produce better ideas as a group.

What were your strengths of your presentation?
It was interactive and also created a quick slide show.

OUGD101 Problem Analysis - rationale

How to... Sleep when your neighbour is playing loud music.

Who needs to know? People playing the music to be aware that there are other students trying to get to sleep.

What they need to know? To keep the music low when people have gone to sleep.

Why do they need to know? They need to know because other people may be asleep and could waken or keep them awake.

What will they respond to? If they are playing loud music they wont hear you knocking so maybe something visual to make them aware e.g smoke bomb, so room is evacuated.

Where do they go? Something visual through the door or underneath the door to make them aware.

Summer Project 2009

For the Summer Brief i had to produce an alphabet based upon my personality to represent me. At first i wanted to make my type interactive and playful. I narrowed down words that represent me down to music, traveling, street art, Mansfield, awareness and illustration. I wanted to use a big bold type that represents would type i like. I thought that i could experiment with make my type 3d out of paper and card but from my mock up of the letter A i learnt that it didn't look well made, pretty tacky. The idea was to have a bar at the bottom of each letter so they connected with each other. But at the start of the word there would of been a gap in the corner of the first letter so i thought if i made a cube with six sides i could use the words that represent me and colour in each side of the square with the words. As the 3d wasn't successful i made my letters using 2d format and instead of a cube i used 3 rectangles that represent my six words and these were on the front and back of rectangles. Overall i m happy with the project and learnt from the 3d mock up how tricky if is to produce a 3d letter using paper and card.
